Women's Golf To Open Season On Monday
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team will open its 2012-13 season on Monday, Sept. 10, as it will compete at the Colonel Bill Wollenberg's Ptarmigan Ram Classic. The two-day tournament, which is being hosted by Colorado State, will be played at the Ptarmigan Country Club (par 72, 6,302 yards) in Fort Collins, Colo.
The 54-hole stroke-play tournament will consist of 36 holes (two rounds) on Monday starting at 8:30 a.m. MT in a shotgun format, and 18 on Tuesday, also starting at 8:30 a.m. MT.
The 17-team field for the Ptarmigan Ram Classic includes Baylor, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Idaho, Illinois, Long Beach State, Louisville, Nevada, Reno, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, San Jose State, Texas Tech, UNLV, UTEP and Wyoming.
UC Davis is the defending team champion at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, winning the 2011 event by two shots at 9-over 873. The Rebels finished eighth last year. UC Davis' Demi Runas earned medalist honors by three shots at 5-under 211. UNLV's top finisher was Katerina Prorokova in a tie for 17th.

UNLV is entering its third season under head coach Amy Bush and the squad returns six letterwinners from last season. UNLV has played in 10 straight NCAA Regionals.
