FRESNO, Calif. ---The Fresno State soccer team fell 2-1 to UC Davis Friday night at the Aggie Soccer Field.

The 'Dogs fell behind early in the first half when Aggie junior Ashley Edwards put the ball in the back of the net in the 19th minute. The score remained 1-0 in favor of UC Davis for the rest of the first half.

Coming out of the locker room after half time, the 'Dogs had several good opportunities to score with two corner kicks within the first six minutes of the second, but were unable to capitalize.

UC Davis extended the lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute. Senior Allison Kelly headed the ball into the goal off of a corner kick from the left side from sophomore Lauren Paul.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the 78th minute when Senior Callie Hancock received the ball on the right side ahead of the defenders and was able to put the ball past the keeper in a one-on-one situation.

Sophomore goalie Katie DeVault recorded three saves on the evening and was charged with giving up both goals scored.

The 'Dogs remain on the road for the opening weekend as they now travel to San Francisco where they will face the Dons on Sunday at 1 p.m.
