TCU Opens Spring Slate With Draw Against Tulsa

April 2, 2012

LEWISVILLE, Texas – The TCU women’s soccer program took part in its first organized game action of the spring semester Saturday, battling to a scoreless draw with Tulsa at the 2012 Panda Cup in Lewisville.

The match marked the first time head coach Eric Bell has seen his team play an unfamiliar opponent since being hired to lead the Horned Frogs in December.

“We defended well,” Bell said. “Not giving up any goals is obviously a good thing. The attacking wasn’t where it needed to be, but I thought we played hard and relatively organized. We didn’t have a whole lot of shots to take, but now we know the things that need to be worked on as we move forward through the spring and prepare for the fall. Overall, it was a good start.”

TCU will continue the spring schedule on the road against cross-town rival SMU at the Dallas International Girls Cup on April 6.

TCU will wrap-up the spring with a pair of matches at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. The Frogs will welcome future Big 12 Conference foe Texas Tech to Fort Worth on April 14. The match is scheduled to kick-off at Noon. The spring will conclude at home against Texas State on April 21.
