SDSU Women's Soccer Garners Preseason Accolades

SAN DIEGO - Seven players on the San Diego State women's soccer team have been named to the preseason all-Mountain West team, CollegeSportsMaddness.com announced on Sunday.
The Aztecs who were named to the first team include redshirt senior Tiffany Hurst, senior Megan Jurado, redshirt junior Sophie Metz and junior Haley Palmer. Sophomore Hannah Keane, junior Kory Spotts and redshirt sophomore Rachel Boaz, meanwhile, landed on the all-MW second team.
A defender, Hurst started all 20 contests last season and tallied two goals and two assists. Jurado, who also started all 20 games at forward in 2011, scored both of her two goals against Hawai'i.
In her first year on Montezuma Mesa after transferring from UCLA, Metz started in 17 games as a midfielder and notched three goals and had two assists. Palmer, meanwhile, tallied four assists on the season in 19 starts at defender.
Keane, a forward, saw action in 19 games in her freshman campaign in which she notched five goals. Spotts, meanwhile, had a successful first year at SDSU after transferring from UNC Greensboro. The San Diego, Calif., native started in all 20 games at defender and tallied an assist.
Rounding out the honorees is Boaz, who started all 20 games at goalkeeper in 2011. The Murrieta, Calif., native made 49 saves and had a goals-against average of 0.91 en route to a record of 10-7-3.
