'Dogs Match Ends in 1-1 Tie

FRESNO, Calif. ---After the full 90 minutes and two ten minute overtime periods, Fresno State soccer played to a 1-1 tie against San Francisco Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first in the 17th minute. Junior Morgan Castain found senior Callie Hancock in the box who was able to put the ball in the back of the net for her second goal of the season.

Going into halftime, the `Dogs continued to lead 1-0, while sophomore goalkeeper Katie DeVault had 4 saves.

Three minutes into the second half, DeVault came up with a critical diving save to keep Fresno State ahead.

Halfway through the second half, San Francisco freshman Rochelle Weerackoo tied the score 1-1 from about ten yards out.

At the end of regulation, the score remained 1-1, forcing a sudden death overtime period. The 'Dogs played two ten minute golden goal periods, but neither team was able to come out on top.

Fresno State will host its home opener on Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium when the 'Dogs will take on No. 6 UCLA.
