Aug. 27, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State sophomore forward Haley Locker and junior midfielder Carli Johnson have been selected Mountain West Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. This is the second career weekly award for Locker and first for Johnson.

Locker scored two of the Aztecs' three goals over the weekend, as San Diego State improved to 4-0 on the season with a 1-0 win over St. Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday and a 2-0 victory against Seattle on Friday. The Ferndale, Wash., native scored the lone goal against St. Francis late in the second half at the 78:38 mark for the win. She notched her team-leading third goal of the season at the 1:01 mark of the Seattle win to put SDSU out to a quick 2-0 lead. The two goals were her only shots in each game.

Hailing from Santa Rosa, Calif., Johnson helped San Diego State to a pair of shutout victories against St. Francis (Pa.) and Seattle over the weekend. The junior played all 180 minutes, leading the defense by holding St. Francis to four shots and Seattle to five. The Aztecs' defense has not allowed a goal in the first four games of the season.
