Rebel Classic Starts Friday

The UNLV women's soccer team hosts a pair of first-time opponents this weekend, taking on Oklahoma and Florida Atlantic in the UNLV Rebel Classic at Peter Johann Memorial Field. UNLV will play Oklahoma on Friday at 7 pm, and close out by facing FAU on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1 pm. Northern Arizona will be the fourth team in the event. The UNLV athletic department is also sponsoring a food drive during the weekend, with $1 tickets available for all fans who bring two non-perishable food items to the ticket window. All other tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for UNLV faculty, staff and students, while kids 12 and under are free.

All About The Rebels
Junior Jenn Wolfe leads UNLV (1-2-1) with a Mountain West tying-high three goals for six points. Junior Kylie Wassell meanwhile has two shutouts this season in the net.

Scouting Oklahoma
The Sooners are 2-1-1 this season, but this weekend will be their first action away from their home field. The loss and tie were at the hands of SEC squads LSU and Vanderbilt. Renae Cuellar leads the team with six points off three goals, while Kelsey Devonshire has a 0.91 GAA.

Scouting Florida Atlantic
The Owls are 1-2 this season, and split a pair of games last weekend, defeating Green Bay 2-1 but losing to Illinois State 7-0. FAU has scored only two goals this season, one each from Claire Emslie and Ellie Smith. Ashley Lantes has played the majority of time in goal, and has a 2.41 GAA.

Next Time Out
UNLV hosts a second straight tournament, playing Sacramento State on Friday, Sept. 7 in the first game of the UNLV Nike Invitational, while the day's other game feature Montana and Indiana State. UNLV faces Montana on Sunday, Sept. 9 to close out the weekend.
