Mountain West Names Women's Soccer Players of the Week

Sept. 3, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico senior forward Jordan Craig and San Diego State senior defender/midfielder Tiffany Hurst have been selected Mountain West Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. This is the first career weekly award for Craig and second for Hurst.

Jordan scored her first three goals of the season as New Mexico swept both matches of the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational over the weekend. Against SMU on Friday, the Amarillo, Texas, native netted her first goal of the season, and UNM's third in an 11-minute span, en route to the 4-1 win. In Sunday's match with host Texas, Craig drove home a rebound with 36 seconds left in regulation to force a 1-1 tie and send the game to overtime. In the fourth minute of second overtime, the senior forward scored on a breakaway to secure the 2-1 victory. Craig, who missed the 2011 season with a knee injury, came off the bench in both games.

Hailing from Santa Rosa, Calif., Hurst led a San Diego State defensive unit that limited No. 5/13 Pepperdine to just three shots, including one on goal, in a 1-0 victory last Friday. The senior defender/midfielder played all 90 minutes of the contest as the Aztecs recorded their fifth consecutive shutout to open the season.
