Megan Jurado Named MW Offensive Player of the Week

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State forward Megan Jurado has been named the Mountain West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. This marks the first time the senior has received the award and the fourth consecutive week an Aztec has been honored.

The San Jose, Calif., native was instrumental in No. 20/21/T-24 San Diego State being named champions of the Minnesota Gold Classic after she scored the game-winning goal in both victories over Minnesota and Iowa State this past weekend.

On Friday against Minnesota, Jurado tallied the game-deciding goal just 58 seconds into overtime to give the Aztecs a 1-0 win. Then in the 82nd minute of Sunday's contest with Iowa State, Jurado notched her third consecutive game-winner as SDSU improved to 7-0 for the first time in program history.

The Aztecs return to action on Friday when they travel to the Santa Clara Tournament. SDSU will play No. 5/5/4 Stanford on Friday, Sept. 14 and then face off with No. -/19/- Santa Clara on Sunday, Sept. 16. Both contests will be held at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
