After four straight games at home, the UNLV women's soccer team will put its four-game win streak on the line against a pair of opponents in this weekend's Hilton Garden Inn High Altitude Tournament. The tournament, hosted by Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, will see the Rebels take on future Mountain West member San Jose State on Friday at 4 pm, and then close out against Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at 10 am. All About The Rebels
UNLV (5-2-1) is riding its first four-game win streak since the 2007 season. The Rebels are paced by junior forward Jenn Wolfe, tied for sixth in the nation with seven goals and tied for seventh with game-winning goals with three. Senior midfielder Macy Jo Harrison meanwhile has five assists on the year, which ranks her 10th in the nation.
Scouting San Jose State
The Spartans, who will be a Mountain West member in 2013, are 2-4-1 and have lost three straight, including a 1-0 home loss to Nevada, Reno. SJSU has been paced by Mikaella Meibock with four goals and eight points, and that also is top in the WAC.
Scouting Florida Gulf Coast
The Eagles have earned their first-ever regional ranking (10th in the Southeast) after beginning the year with a 5-1-1 mark, with the only loss at the hands of No. 12 UCF. FGCU is another team paced by a freshman, with Shea Rhoney posting eight points off three goals and two assists thus far in 2012.
Next Time Out
UNLV returns home for its last non-conference game of the fall, a Sunday, Sept. 23 contest against Idaho at 11:30 am at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
