LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels (4-3) won their second consecutive game in their own Easton Desert Classic with Friday's 5-2 decision against the Portland State Vikings (3-5) at Eller Media Stadium. UNLV scored all five of its runs in the third, while Amanda Oliveto (4-1) held PSU's offense in-check while carrying a no-hitter into the seventh.

After two scoreless innings of play, the Rebels sent nine batters to the plate and they produced five scores. Following a walk issued to Tayler Van Acker and a bunt single from Samantha Juarez, Stefany Valentino hit a ball to left center that brought one run to the plate for a 1-0 lead. Both Juarez and Valentino advanced into scoring position on the play and the former scored when she slid under a tag attempt by PSU's catcher that followed a ball put in play by Tayler Aleman. Jaexie Balilea stepped up after the second out had been recorded and nailed a two-run double down the line in left to extend the lead to 4-0. Balilea quickly scored from second when the Vikings' shortstop wildly threw to first on a grounder by Pauline Monreal.

The Scarlet & Gray had five hits on the day with three coming off the bat of Valentino, who had two singles and a double.

Oliveto stymied the PSU offense during the first six innings of play. After walking the first batter she faced, she sat down 16 straight hitters before walking one more. She wound retiring the next four she faced until Candice Orozco blooped a ball into shallow right to wreck the no-hit bid. Brittany Hendrickson then stepped up and hit a two-run dinger to center to end the shutout.

The UNLV hurler picked up her second straight win while throwing her fourth complete game of the season. She was touched for two runs off of two hits. She struck out two against two walks.

PSU's Anna Bertrand fell to 2-3 on the year with the loss in six innings of work. She allowed five runs (four unearned) off five hits. She fanned five and walked two.

The Rebels return to action on Saturday with a pair of contests at EMS. UNLV will open up with Utah Valley at 3:45 pm followed by a 6:00 pm tilt with Ohio.
