CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. ( - The UNLV Rebels (5-10) suffered two losses on Sunday, the final day of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, at Big League Dreams in Cathedral City, Calif. UNLV led early in both contests, but eventually lost to the #9 Oregon Ducks and the Long Beach State 49ers by 4-2 and 7-2 scores, respectively.

The losses capped off a 0-5 run for the Rebels at the Classic, and they extended the team's losing skid to seven games dating back to last weekend's Easton Desert Classic.

The Rebel offense was paced by three hits and a .600 batting average by Tayler Van Acker and a two-hit, .333 performance from Pauline Monreal.

Taylar Aleman, who gave the Rebels a short-lived 1-0 lead in the Long Beach State affair, registered her 100th career RBI when she smashed her 28th home run as a member of the Scarlet & Gray. Aleman became the 10th Rebel in program history to tally 100 RBI.

On the pitching side of the ledger, Amanda Oliveto (5-4) and Francesca Foti (0-3) were saddled with losses in the circle for UNLV. Oliveto threw 9.2 innings on the day and tossed a complete game in a loss to Oregon before seeing 2.2 frames as a reliever against LBSU. In all, she allowed six runs (five earned) off of 11 hits with three strikeouts against three walks. Foti pitched 4.1 innings in the start vs. the 49ers, and she was touched for five runs off of nine hits and one walk.

Against the Ducks, UNLV scored first after getting a two-run double from Monreal. Stefany Valentino led off the at-bat with a walk before taking second on a groundout. Valentino then moved over to third when Van Acker singled to right before advancing to second on another groundout. Monreal then delivered the go-ahead hit.

Oregon countered with two runs of its own in the second with help from a single up the middle by Allie Burger. The hit scored a pair after the runners had reached via a fielding error and a single.

The Ducks broke the stalemate an inning later when an errant throw to the plate in a rundown allowed Kaylan Howard to score. Howard led off the inning with a walk before moving 60 feet at a time after a single and a sacrifice bunt. She scored once more in the fifth when she was knocked in off a triple from Alexa Peterson.

Cheridan Hawkins (4-1) registered the win in 5.0 innings of relief for Oregon. Hawkins faced one batter over the minimum in her time in the circle - a hit batter in the sixth, as she did not allow a run or a hit.

Against the 49ers, Aleman got the Rebels started with her solo dinger to left for a quick 1-0 lead before LBSU struck for four runs off of five hits, three of which were doubles, one inning later.

After seeing one of its runners throw out at the plate, LBSU got run-scoring hits from Dana Garcia (RBI single), Leilani Tupua-Tautalatasi (two-run double) and Shayna Kimbrough (RBI double).

UNLV got one run back in the third when Van Acker knocked Garie Blando in from second with a single before LBSU grew the lead back to three and eventually five runs with scores in the fifth and sixth innings.

Erin Jones-Wesley got the win for LBSU in complete-game fashion. Jones-Wesley struck out 11, but allowed two runs off of two hits and two walks.

The Rebels return to action on Friday, March 1 with a pair of games in their own Eller Media Stadium Classic. UNLV will play Weber State (3:45 pm) and Cal State Northridge (6:00 pm) on the opening night of the three-day event. DePaul and New Mexico State are also attending the tournament.
