San Diego, Calif. – The Rams rebounded from an extra innings defeat the previous day to pick up a victory over Seton Hall Sunday morning.

With a 3-1 win Colorado State wrapped up the San Diego Classic II with a 3-2 record and improved to an overall record of 12-14.

For the second game in as many days, senior pitcher Kacie McCarthy picked up a victory in a tight game. McCarthy fanned six Pirate batters and only allowed three hits in a complete game. The senior pitcher improves her record to 9-6.

The Pirates put the first run on the board in the second inning when freshman Alex Rabbetts crossed home plate on a Danielle DeStaso grounder to first base.

From then, the Rams rattled off three straight runs beginning in the bottom of the second. Junior Kendal Butterfield opened up the second inning with a single and advanced to second on an error by the Seton Hall left fielder. After two quick outs, junior Chelsea Biglow hit a frozen rope to right center field to bring Butterfield in to score.

CSU added another run in the third on a Danielle Wikre sac fly, which brought in Shae Rodriguez who opened up the third inning with a single. This run sealed the victory for the Rams but they added an insurance run in the home half of the fourth inning when Biglow hit a sac fly to bring in Butterfield.

The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday as they make the short trip to Long Beach, Calif. for a showdown with Long Beach State (18-12) before returning to Fort Collins for an eight game home stand.
