Senior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) drove in five runs to break the San Diego State softball team's all-time RBI record, but No. 19/17 Arizona scored the final seven runs in an 8-6 victory over the Aztecs (18-19) in eight innings Wednesday in Tucson, Ariz.

Maeva doubled home freshman Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) in the top of the third inning and hit a two-out grand slam in the top of the seventh to give SDSU a commanding 6-1 lead. The grand slam gave her 103 RBIs for her career, one more than Kelcy Murphy (2001-04) and Erryn Gutjahr (1996-99) in one less season. Maeva is in her third year with the program after playing for Cal State Bakersfield as a freshman in 2009.

The Wildcats (21-8), however, answered with five runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a three-run homer by Alex Lavine, to force extra innings and two more in the eighth on a walkoff, two-run home run by Shelby Pendley. Pendley also homered to lead off the bottom of the seventh.

Sophomore Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) had San Diego State's other RBI when she hit a solo home run in the third. The homer was her eighth of the season (tied for second on the Aztecs' single-season list) and extended her reaches base safely streak to 24 consecutive games.

Jordan had her third triple of the season and walked twice, while sophomore Katie Mathis (Grass Valley, Calif.) got on base safely twice with two walks.

Senior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) took the loss after surrendering eight runs on nine hits and three walks over seven innings. Seven of the eight runs allowed and six of the nine hits came in the UA's final two at-bats against Micetich (8-6), who struck out seven in the game.

The Aztecs begin their Mountain West conference season April 13-15 at home against Colorado State.
