FRENSO, Calif. -- The University of New Mexico softball team suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Mountain West foe Fresno State at Dog Diamond on Saturday evening.
The Bulldogs secured the series win as they also won Friday night's contest, 3-0.
The Lobos drop to 21-31 overall and 3-11 in MW play while Fresno State improves to 29-22 overall and 10-7 in conference contests.
"Our defense and pitching got us out of a few jams and overall, it was a hard-fought game."
The Lobos had six hits in Saturday's game after recording just one on Friday night.
Senior Sheryl Guillermo led UNM at the plate as she went 2-for-3.
"Kaity extended her hitting streak and has been just great and consistent for us in the lineup," Beach said.
Ingram has had at least one hit in New Mexico's last eight games. The streak began April 14 in UNM's third game at UNLV.
Soles was in circle for the Lobos and gave up seven hits and two earned runs. In 27 batters faced, she walked one and struck out two. Her record drops to 9-14 overall.
Fresno State's Hannah Harris earned the win in seven innings of work. She gave up six hits and one earned run while walking none and striking out one.
The Lobos-Bulldgos series concludes at 2 p.m. MT tomorrow at Dog Diamond.

The game remained scoreless for the first 2 1/2 innings. In the bottom of the third, the Bulldogs used two hits and aggressive base running to put up two runs.
The score stayed at 2-0 until the top of the sixth. With two outs away freshman Mariah Rimmer reached on a single to the pitcher. Rimmer then stole second and was driven in on a single to right field by freshman Naomi Tellez. The two-out rally attempt was thwarted, however, as the next Lobo batter popped out to first base.
Guillermo singled down the left-field line with one away in the top of the seventh, but a grounder to second base by sophomore Nykilah Torres resulted in a double play by the Bulldogs and the home team sealed the 2-1 victory and the series win.
