Final Stats

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - For the third consecutive year, the UNLV Rebels (21-28, 7-8 Mountain West) sent their seniors out in style with a victory in their final home softball game with Sunday's 5-0 win over the Boise State Broncos (23-25-1, 7-8 MW). Prior to the game, the softball program recognized its five seniors, and two of them - Heather Harrison and Tayler Aleman - made major contributions in Sunday's outcome. Both players went deep with home runs, while Rebel hurler Amanda Oliveto (18-15) held the Bronco offense in-check throughout the contest.

After two scoreless innings had passed, UNLV got on the board in the third inning with help from Harrison. Katie Uriarte and Tayler Van Acker got things stirring with back-to-back one-out singles. Aleman then reached on a pop up that landed behind the circle and should've been caught, but the BSU middle infielders crashed into each other on the play. Following a strikeout, Harrison stepped into the box with the bases loaded and crushed Kenzi Cole's (6-8) offering to deep left-center for a grand slam.

Aleman added an insurance score two frames later when she hit a high fly to left that landed outside the field of play for her 33rd career dinger, which puts her sixth in UNLV's career record book.

Oliveto made those runs stand up with her pitching and help from her defense, who did not commit an error in Sunday's affair. She went the distance for the 63rd time in her career and notched her 13th shutout since donning the Scarlet & Gray in 2011.

The Bronco offense that had scored 24 runs in the first two games of the series was held off the scoreboard and was only able to muster four hits in the contest, while striking out four times against three walks.

Cole was saddled with the loss in six frames of work. She allowed five runs (one earned) off of eight hits. She did strikeout six, but she also walked a pair.

With their home slate of games completed, the Rebels hit the road for one final time this season for a three-game series against the San Diego State Aztecs in "America's Finest City" on May 9-11. The set begins on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm, while first pitch for Friday's and Saturday's games is scheduled for 5:00 pm and 1:00 pm. Friday's contest will be televised live by the CBS Sports Network.
