Aztec Softball Kicks Off 2012 Season With Six Games at Kajikawa Classic
The San Diego State softball team begins its 36th season of competitive play this weekend when it travels to Tempe, Ariz., for the Kajikawa Classic on the campus of defending national champion and No. 1/1 Arizona State.

The Aztecs, who are receiving votes in both the preseason USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls, are scheduled to play six games over four days, including five against teams who made last year's NCAA tournament, three who are nationally ranked and four who are either ranked or receiving votes.

SDSU kicks off the 2012 campaign Thursday with a 2 p.m. MT contest against Texas Tech. Following the season opener, San Diego State will take on Portland State (9 a.m. MT) and Utah (11:30 a.m. MT) on Friday, No. 14/9 Tennessee (2 p.m. MT) and rv/No. 23 Georgia Tech (7 p.m. MT) on Saturday, and No. 16/11 Oregon (1:30 p.m. MT) on Sunday.
