Rebels Take The Show On The Road

LAS VEGAS ( - The UNLV Rebels will hit the road for the first time in 2013 with a trip to the California desert. UNLV will participate in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, formerly the Cathedral City Classic, a tournament that the Rebels attended from 2005-10 before taking two years off.

In Cathedral City, 13 of the 35 teams entered in the four-day tournament (Feb. 21-24) are ranked in both of the top 25 polls. Oklahoma, who is #1 in the Softball Poll and #2 in the USA Today/NFCA Poll, comes in as the highest ranked team. Including OU, there are six other top 10 squads making an appearance in the Golden State - #4/4 Tennessee, #5/5 Florida, #7/7 Missouri, #8/8 California, #9/11 Oregon and #110/10 Louisiana State.

UNLV has two ranked teams on its docket for this week with Louisiana State and Oregon on top of facing BYU, Loyola Marymount and Long Beach State.

ON DECK: The UNLV Rebels return to Las Vegas to host their third home tournament of the 2013 season with the Eller Media Stadium Classic slated for March 1-3. UNLV will welcome Weber State, Cal State Northridge and New Mexico State to town for the three-day event.

The Rebels will play twice on both Friday and Saturday and once on Sunday. They'll square off against Weber State, Cal State Northridge and DePaul once before facing New Mexico State in consecutive outings.
