Aztec Softball Hosts Quinnipiac on Tuesday Night

The San Diego State softball team looks to snap a three-game losing streak when it plays host to Quinnipiac at 6 p.m. PT Tuesday at SDSU Softball Stadium.

The Aztecs (15-14) went 2-3 last weekend at Fresno State's Bayer CropScience Classic, including losses to No. 2/1 California and No. 18/15 Oregon. SDSU, which also lost to Purdue, picked up its wins over Butler and UConn.

Sophomore Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) led the San Diego State offense once again, going 8-for-19 (.421) with six runs, three doubles, a triple and an RBI en route to being named to the all-tournament team. Senior Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS) was 5-for-15 (.333) with three runs, three stolen bases, two sacrifice bunts and a walk, while junior Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) was 3-for-10 (.300) with an RBI, a run and a walk.

Senior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) was 1-1 in the circle with 2.86 ERA over 14 2/3 innings and redshirt junior Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif./Texas A&M) was 2-2 with a 3.43 ERA over 16 1/3 innings.

On the season, Miles leads the Aztecs in batting average (.389), games started (29), at-bats (90), runs (29), hits (35), doubles (12), triples (1, tied), total bases (67), walks (13) and on-base percentage (.462). Sophomore Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) (.333) leads the team in home runs (8), RBIs (22) and slugging percentage (.810), and May is hitting .333 (15-for-45) with four extra-base hits.

Arbino leads the pitching staff with a 7-6 record and 1.80 ERA over 85 1/3 innings, while Micetich is 6-3 with a 2.26 ERA in 68 innings. Junior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) (2-5, 3.95 ERA) has also logged 39 innings for SDSU.

The Bobcats come into tomorrow's game with a 9-4 record, including a 2-4 mark over their last six games. One of the team's wins, however, was against Saint Joseph's (1-0), a team that defeated San Diego State on March 3 in Santee, Calif.

QU is led by Alex Alba, who is hitting .444 (16-for-36) with a .750 slugging percentage (6 2B, 3B, HR). Christy Cabrera (.370) leads Quinnipiac with 17 hits, while Mina Duffy (.265) has three home runs and 12 RBIs. Cabrera's also the top pitcher with a 2.19 ERA.
