SDSU's Hayley Miles Named MW Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State's Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week, the league announced today. It is the first career weekly accolade for the sophomore.

Last week, Miles led the Aztecs to a 3-3 record with two of the losses coming to top-15 teams. She hit .421 (8-for-19) with six runs, three doubles, an RBI, a .681 slugging percentage and a .450 on-base percentage. Miles had a hit in all six games to extend her hitting streak to 10 games. Additionally, she has reached base safely in the past 16 contests. For her efforts, Miles was named to Fresno State's Bayer CropScience All-Tournament Team, where SDSU played its final five games of the weekend.

On Tuesday against Maine, Miles had a double and scored a run in the team's 8-0, run-rule win in five innings. On Friday vs. Butler in Fresno, Calif., she was 2-for-4 with two runs and her first triple of the season as the team came away with a 10-2, six-inning victory. Later in the day, Miles was 2-for-3 with an RBI, double, two runs and a walk as San Diego State defeated UConn, 8-3. On Saturday against No. 2/1 Cal, she singled to lead off the game and had one of just three Aztec hits on the day. On Sunday, Miles had a double and a run against Purdue and a single vs. No. 18/15 Oregon.

On the season, Miles leads SDSU in batting average (.389), games started (29), at-bats (90), runs (29), hits (35), doubles (12), triples (1, tied), total bases (67), walks (13) and on-base percentage (.462). She also has contributed six home runs and 18 RBIs from the leadoff spot.
