Oliveto Tabbed MW's Pitcher Of The Week

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV softball's Amanda Oliveto was named the Mountain West's Pitcher of the Week for games played through March 17. Oliveto helped the Rebels to a 4-1 mark at the San Diego Classic II in Santee, Calif., this past weekend. She went 3-0 in the circle and topped off the road trip with a no-hitter against Massachusetts. This is the fifth time that the Rebel junior has been named to the weekly award.
The Simi Valley, Calif., native tossed 22.2 innings in a total of four appearances in the circle. She threw three complete games and struck out 16 en route to a 0.93 ERA while holding the opposition to a .130 batting average. She opened up the tournament Friday with a 2-0 shutout of UT Arlington, where she allowed just two hits and one walk against six strikeouts. On Saturday, she pitched 1.2 innings of relief vs. Bryant, and she allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two. Later that day, she worked all seven frames of UNLV's 5-3 victory over Buffalo. She surrendered three runs off seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts. She concluded the tourney in fine fashion with her fourth career no-no, a 5-0 complete-game shutout of UMass that also featured five strikeouts and one walk. Defensively, Oliveto was perfect in eight fielding opportunities, registering seven assists and one putout.
Oliveto and her teammates return to Las Vegas to host their fourth and final home tournament this weekend at Eller Media Stadium. The Rebel Classic will begin on Friday, March 22 and run through Sunday, March 24. UNLV will play three games this weekend, two against Tulsa and one vs. Texas Tech.
