`Dogs Open MW with Nevada

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State softball faces Nevada in its inaugural Mountain West series March 28-30 at Bulldog Diamond. The three-game series is both programs first in MW action. Live streaming and GameTracker will be available for all three games, while only Friday and Saturday's games will be broadcast on ESPN2 790 The Deuce.

About Nevada
The Fresno State vs. Nevada series began in 1978 with the Bulldogs winning 8-0. The `Dogs lead the overall series with a 37-12 record. The last meeting was in 2012 and Fresno State won 2-of-3 games. The Bulldogs have six of the last nine games between the `Dogs and Wolf pack.

Scouting the Wolf Pack
Nevada is 20-13 on the season and won three of four games last weekend. The Wolf Pack is hitting .328 as a team with 105 extra base hits and 190 RBI. The Pack has an on base percentage of .420 and have stolen 18 bases. Karley Hopkins leads the team hitting .393. She has collected 44 hits, nine doubles, a home run and 18 RBI. In the circle, Nevada has a 4.10 team ERA and combined for 168 strikeouts. Karlyn Jones has a 13-4 record on the mound and a 3.03 ERA in 104 innings of work. She has struck out 96 batters and opponents are hitting .227 against her.

Bulldogs Start First Season in Mountain West
Fresno State joined the Mountain West Conference in July of 2012. The 2013 season will be the first season the Bulldogs compete as members of the MW. The 'Dogs made the move to the MW with Nevada. Fresno State also faces familiar foes Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State and UNLV, who are all members of the MW. The Bulldogs have faced every member and compiled a 202-46 (.814) mark against teams in the MW.

Home Is Where the Heart Is
The Bulldogs are off to a 10-2 start at Bulldog Diamond in 2013. Fresno State has an overall home record of 812-186-1 in 36 years. The best single-season home record at Bulldog Diamond is 27-0 set by the 1998 National Champion squad.

Compton Named MW Pitcher of the Week
Freshman Jill Compton earned her first Mountain West Pitcher of the Week accolade and second for the Bulldogs pitching staff. She threw her second complete-game shutout of the season, working all seven innings of Fresno State's 1-0 victory over Pacific last Wednesday. The Oceano, Calif., native struck out four batters while surrendering three hits and one walk.

Angotti Moves into Lineup
Junior transfer Kapri Angotti has moved into the Fresno State lineup and making quite the impact. The first-year Bulldog is hitting .381 in 12 starts and 22 appearances. She has recorded five RBI, one of which was the game-winning run against Kansas. She made her first start in front of a home crowd and recorded two hits. The outfielder has 16 hits, including a double and two runs scored in 2013. Angotti has recorded five multi-hit games and earlier this week hit .714 (5-for-7) against Cal Poly.
