April 2, 2013

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada softball team will travel to Sacramento State for its final mid-week games of the season on Wednesday, taking on the Hornets in a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m.

The Pack will return home to take on San Diego State on Friday at 3 p.m. in its second Mountain West series, after playing Sacramento State on Wednesday.

Nevada is 21-15 (1-2 MWC), while Sacramento State is 16-12 (2-1 Big Sky).

The Wolf Pack went 1-2 against Fresno State to open Mountain West play in Fresno last weekend. Jasmine Jenkins had a big offensive series, collecting three extra-base hits and driving in five runs in three starts at third base. In addition to the freshman’s success at the plate, sophomore Megan Dortch pitched a complete-game shutout to beat the Bulldogs 1-0 on Friday.

Nevada has equaled its total in wins from a season ago with 18 contests remaining on the schedule, and boasts one of the most productive offenses in the country. A .321 batting average has the Pack 25th nationally, while a scoring rate of 5.86 runs per game has Nevada 33rd.

Live audio for both games will be available at www.NevadaWolfPack .com, as well as live statistics and a full recap of each.

Sacramento State won the only meeting between the two teams this season, 9-7 on March 8, at the Mustang Classic in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
