CSU's Biglow named MW Player of the Week
April 2, 2013
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State junior third baseman Chelsea Biglow on Tuesday was named as the Mountain West Player of the Week, after leading the Rams to a conference-opening series sweep of the UNLV Rebels last weekend at Ram Field. It marks the first-career weekly award for Biglow.
Biglow, a Tigard, Ore., native, hit .556 (5-for-9) at the plate in three games and drove in a team-high eight runs in the Rams’ series with the Rebels. She had three extra-base hits; one double, triple and home run and notched a 1.222 slugging percentage on the weekend, while adding a pair of walks to finish the series with a .636 on-base percentage. She also scored five runs as the Rams tallied 35 runs for the series. Defensively, Biglow was sharp at the hot corner as she compiled a perfect (1.000) fielding percentage with six putouts and eight assists, including five in the Rams’ 2-0 victory over the Rebels in the series opener on March 28.
Biglow and the Rams return to the diamond this weekend, stepping out of Mountain West action for a showdown with Southeastern Conference foe Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. The Rams and the Aggies are slated for a three-game series, with one tilt scheduled for Friday (6 p.m. MT), Saturday (3 p.m. MT) and Sunday (11 a.m. MT).
