COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado State freshman outfielder Shae Rodriguez and junior righthander Kacie McCarthy have been named Mountain West Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 1.
In their only game of the week, the Rams shut out Northern Colorado, 8-0, in five innings.
Rodriguez, from Westminster, Colo., went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Her two-run home run spurred a four-run third inning, which featured back-to-back homers. She finished the game with slugging and on-base percentages of 2.500 and 1.000, respectively.
In the win, McCarthy pitched a complete game, surrendering just two hits in her scoreless outing. The weekly honor was the Shingletown, Calif., native’s second in a row, as she was named Co-Pitcher of the Week the week prior.
CSU closes out its non-conference slate against the Bears today in Greeley at 5 p.m. MT, and Wednesday, April 11 at 4 p.m. at Ram Field.
