Once Again, Oliveto Earns Weekly Award

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Amanda Oliveto was named the Mountain West's Pitcher of the Week for games played through April 7. Oliveto has earned the conference's weekly pitching award six times in her career with two of those coming during the 2013 campaign.
Oliveto, a junior from Simi Valley, Calif., went 1-0 last weekend in UNLV's three-game MW series against Fresno State. She registered one complete game and a 0.66 ERA over two starts, working a total of 10.2 innings. She was touched for five runs (one earned) and nine hits, while striking out 10 batters against five walks. In her first start on Friday, she tossed all seven frames and allowed one earned run off six hits in the Rebels' 4-1 victory. She struck out eight Bulldogs while walking three. Oliveto also saw action in Sunday's series finale, throwing the first 3.2 innings before giving way to a reliever. She surrendered four unearned runs off three hits with two Ks and two walks.
The Rebels return to action on Friday, April 11 at 6:00 pm when they host the New Mexico Lobos in the first of three games over the weekend. Saturday's and Sunday's games are slated for 1:00 pm first pitches. The three-game series is part of the Scarlet & Gray Weekend that features UNLV football's "Spring Showcase" on Friday night as well as a Governor's Series match-up in baseball between the Rebels and Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack. Men's tennis, women's tennis, track & field and women's soccer will also have home outings on campus, as well.
