ROAD TRIPPIN': The UNLV Rebels began the 2012 campaign with 14 of their first 19 games played in Las Vegas. With the conclusion of the Eller Media Stadium Classic on March 4, UNLV's schedule was marked with 17 consecutive games on the road although it has since been altered by some subtractions and additions.

Originally, 17 games should have been played to this point, but three contests were canceled at the San Diego Classic II due to rain. UNLV added a doubleheader at Southern Utah last weekend to get two of those games back. The Rebels have gone 10-6 overall in the 16 games contested.

THE LAST OUT(ING): The UNLV Rebels went 2-0 last week with a pair of wins in a doubleheader at Fresno State. After falling behind 4-0 in the first game, UNLV outscored Fresno State 20-3 the rest of the evening. The Rebels won the first game, 8-5, in come-from-behind fashion before a 12-2, six-inning victory in the nightcap.

In all, UNLV hit .426 on the day with 29 hits in 68 at-bats. Ten different players recorded at least one hit with nine getting at least two. Balilea and Monreal led the battering of Bulldog pitching with six and five hits apiece, respectively. Balilea racked up a .857 batting average (6-for-7), while Monreal countered with a .625 effort (5-for-8). Both tallied four RBI, while the former scored three runs to the latter's two.

Amanda Oliveto and Jessica O'Connor combined for a 2-0 day in the circle with a 3.23 ERA. Oliveto threw a total of eight innings to O'Connor's five.

In the first game, FS jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead only to watch UNLV slowly fight back for an 8-5 win.

The second contest was UNLV's from the start. The Rebels scored three runs in the first inning en route to a 12-2, run-rule win.

X MARKS THE SPOT FOR WEEKLY AWARD: UNLV's Jaexie Balilea has been named the Mountain West's Player of the Week for games played through April 8. This is the first career MW weekly accolade for Balilea.

Balilea batted .857 (6-for-7) in a doubleheader sweep (8-5, 12-2) of Fresno State on the road last Wednesday. She recorded back-to-back multiple-hit performances, going 3-for-4 in the first game and 3-for-3 in the sequel. She recorded seven total bases, four RBI and three runs, while registering a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .889 on-base percentage over the two-game stretch. Defensively, she was perfect in the field with nine assists in as many tries.

The Las Vegas native helped spur UNLV's come-from-behind win in the first contest. In the third inning, she smashed a two-out double before scoring the team's first run one batter later following a two-run home run. She added an insurance score in the sixth after leading off the stanza with a single. In the nightcap, she scored the game's first run after initially reaching on a one-out walk.
