SDSU Softball Plays at USD on Tuesday Night

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team continues its nine-game road trip Tuesday with a game at San Diego. First pitch for the Aztecs (26-14) and Toreros (19-21) is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT at USD Softball Complex.
It is the final non-conference game of the season for SDSU, which is 5-1 in the Mountain West and continues its league schedule this weekend at Boise State. San Diego State has won 14 of its last 16 contests.
The Aztecs are hitting .304 as a team, which would be a school record if the season ended today. Junior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) leads SDSU with a .413 batting average to go along with nine home runs and 36 RBIs. Bauer is also tops on the squad in hits (50), RBIs, slugging percentage (.777) and on-base percentage (.466).
Junior Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) is batting .383 with a team-high 11 homers, 28 RBIs, 24 runs, .725 slugging percentage and .449 on-base percentage. Senior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) (.347, 3 HR, 22 RBI), sophomore Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) (.326, 5 HR, 30 R) and senior Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) (.310, 17 RBI, 10 2B) are also hitting above .300 (min. 80 plate appearances) for San Diego State.
Freshman left-hander Danielle O'Toole (Upland, Calif.) is 10-5 with a 1.64 ERA over 115 1/3 innings and senior right-hander Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif.) is 15-9 with a 1.97 ERA over 145 2/3 innings for the Aztecs, who lead the MW with a 1.99 ERA.
SDSU defeated USD, 3-1, on April 3 at SDSU Softball Stadium to improve to 52-3 all-time against San Diego. Jordan had two hits to lead the offense, while junior Katie Mathis (Grass Valley, Calif.) was 1-for-1 with a run and three walks. Bauer (two RBIs) and freshman Monica Downey (San Diego/Madison HS) (one RBI) drove in San Diego State's runs.
O'Toole picked up the win in the circle after allowing one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings, while striking out three.
Lauren Tomey leads the .258-hitting Toreros with a .341 batting average. Dana Prelsnik is batting .301 with 13 walks, while Mary Grabowski (.236) leads USD in home runs (2) and RBIs (13). Jenny Lahitte (8-11, 1.74 ERA, 140.2 IP) and Cassidy Coleman (10-10, 2.13 ERA, 131.1 IP) pace a San Diego pitching staff that has posted a combined 1.90 ERA.
