COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State sophomore centerfielder Tara Glover and San Diego State senior righthander Bailey Micetich have been named Mountain West Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games through April 15. This is the seventh career MW weekly accolade for Micetich and second for Glover.
Glover batted .700 from her leadoff position while helping Boise State to a home sweep of UNLV in Mountain West action last weekend. The Grants Pass, Ore., native registered at least two hits in each of the three games, counting two home runs and two doubles among her seven hits for a slugging percentage of 1.500. She also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch to post a .750 on-base percentage. In Friday's series opener, Glover hit a solo home run in the first inning and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Broncos walked off with a 3-2 victory. In game two on Saturday, Glover hit her second home run of the series and also doubled as part of a three-hit performance in Boise State's 7-5 win. She added two hits in Sunday's series finale, including a double that led to the Broncos' first run in a 5-4, comeback victory. Glover scored four times in the series and drove in two runs while recording two putouts and one error from her position in the outfield.
Micetich went 1-0 with one save and a 1.91 ERA in two appearances as San Diego State swept Colorado State last weekend to begin Mountain West play. The Woodland, Calif., product pitched in both games of Saturday's doubleheader, scattering nine hits over 7 1/3 innings of work while recording seven strikeouts and one walk. In the opener, she picked up the win after giving up three runs (two earned) on nine hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings. She struck out six and gave up one walk en route to the 4-3 victory. In the nightcap, Micetich tossed a perfect seventh inning of relief with a strikeout to earn the save in the Aztecs' 6-5, come-from-behind win.
