Bailey Micetich Named MW Pitcher of the Week

May 1, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

San Diego State senior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is the sixth career weekly honor for the right-hander and the second of the season. An Aztec has now won the pitcher-of-the-week award for three consecutive weeks.

Micetich tossed a five-inning, compete game shutout in SDSU's 10-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton last Wednesday in the team's only game of the week. She allowed just two singles without allowing a Titan runner to advance past second base. Micetich finished the game with 11 strikeouts, her third double-digit strikeout game of the season and seventh of her career, without yielding a walk.

On the season, Micetich is 12-6 with a save and a 2.30 ERA over 128 innings. She has 139 strikeouts against just 22 walks, and has held the opposition to a .230 batting average. Micetich ranks 24th in the nation in fewest walks allowed per seven innings (1.20), and ranks tied for first in the MW in solo shutouts (4), second in strikeouts and opponents' batting average, third in ERA, tied for third in wins, and fifth in games started (17) and innings pitched.

San Diego State travels to Cal State Fullerton at 6 p.m. PT Wednesday, before hosting Boise State in a three-game conference series this weekend. The Aztecs (26-19, 6-0 MW) and Broncos (32-16, 6-3 MW) will play at 6 p.m. PT Friday, 1 p.m. PT Saturday (broadcast live on The Mtn.) and 1 p.m. PT Sunday. After Sunday's game, there will be a special ceremony honoring SDSU seniors Roshana Lavery (San Diego/Mission Bay HS), Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS), Micetich, Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS) and Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.).
