Rebels Hit The Road For Three In Albuquerque

LAS VEGAS ( - The UNLV Rebels hit the road for the final time during the 2012 regular season with this weekend's trip to Albuquerque for a three-game set against the New Mexico Lobos.

The Rebels and Lobos will get things started on Friday evening with the first pitch set for 6:00 pm MT (5:00 pm PT). Saturday's game is slated for 5:00 pm MT (4:00 pm PT), while Sunday's finale will begin at 1:00 pm MT (noon PT).

ON DECK: The UNLV Rebels return home to Las Vegas to close out the 2012 regular season by hosting the San Diego State Aztecs from May 10-12. Normally, the Mountain West series runs Friday through Sunday, but this one has been adjusted to accommodate for Sunday, May 13's NCAA Tournament selection show.

TUNE IN & WATCH: The UNLV Rebels' game against the San Diego State Aztecs, the regular-season finale for both teams, on Saturday, May 12 will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network at 1:00 pm.

It will be the second time UNLV has appeared on television during the 2012 campaign after last weekend's contest on April 28 was aired by The MountainWest Sports Network (The Mtn.).

THE LAST OUT(ING): The UNLV Rebels went 0-3 last weekend in a three-game Mountain West series at home against the Colorado State Rams. CSU took the trio of games by scores of 5-2, 8-0 and 5-3.

UNLV's offense was led by a .300 batting average from Paige Emerson, who collected three hits, two RBI and scored once. One of her hits was a triple, which was her fifth of the season.

In the circle, Amanda Oliveto was saddled with two of the losses, while Jessica O'Connor picked up the third. The duo combined to throw 17.2 innings and struck out 14.

HITTING THE ROAD, ONCE AGAIN: The UNLV Rebels have played 24 of 43 games away from Las Vegas this season. UNLV sits 13-11 overall in those contests mostly played in California with the exception of two contested in southern Utah.

After opening the season with 14 of their first 19 games at home, the Rebels have since played 29 of 34 in either neutral or road environments. They own a record of 3-6 in true road games and 10-5 in neutral affairs.

NCAA STATISTICALLY...TEAM: The UNLV Rebels, as a team, rank within the top 100 of four NCAA statistical categories compiled through this last weekend's action. Two of the rankings are for offensive efforts, while the other two are for defensive ones.

REBELS PICKED SECOND: The UNLV softball team was picked to finish second in this year's Mountain West Preseason Poll, as voted on by the conference's five head coaches. The Rebels, who garnered 13 total points and one first-place vote, trailed the preseason favorite San Diego State Aztecs and their 16 points and four first-place nods.

The Rebels, who finished second in the conference last season with a 9-5 record, went 27-18 overall in 2011.

Three of UNLV's four 2011 all-conference honorees are back, as well. Senior Paige Emerson, junior Tayler Aleman and sophomore Tayler Van Acker return after their impressive seasons from a year ago.

Rounding out the MW's five-team 2012 lineup are, in order, Boise State (9 points), New Mexico (8) and Colorado State (4). Boise State is a new addition to the conference this season after playing its first three years in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
