Wolf Pack Softball Senior Profile: Megan Fincher
May 4, 2013
What has your senior season been like?
My senior season has been amazing. This is definitely the season that I will never forget, and I’m so happy to be going out with a bang. As a team, this is the most success that we have had since I’ve been a player here and it feels great.
Where did the confidence of the 2013 team begin?
The confidence our team has now came from our hard work that we have been putting in all off-season. We all knew that we wanted more then what we did in the 2012 season and knew that we could do so much more with our potential. We’ve had a fire burning in us ever since and we’ve refused to let that go.
Talk more about the team. What does it mean to you to be playing well as a team?
That means the most to me. We know that this is an individual sport played as a team, so us playing so well together right now really shows that individually we’re all very strong and doing our jobs. Our team is a huge family, and we really embrace that on and off of the field.
How has that affected the atmosphere around the program?
The atmosphere around the program has been so exciting this year. Our following from the community has really grown and that’s really special to feel that kind of support from your city. All the improvements and renovations to our field this year have also brought us a lot of good attention and created an atmosphere where people want to come out and watch us play every weekend.
Personally, what has been the best part of being a Wolf Pack softball player?
The best part of being a Wolf Pack softball player has been the amazing friends, memories and times I’ve had since I’ve been here. My team and coaches have become an extended part of my family and I know that these friendships will remain throughout my life. This is something I’m very appreciative of.
Has there been an off-the-field moment that sticks out as a favorite during your time here?
The off the field moment that sticks out the most to me would be the team retreat we took this year right before season started. This retreat brought us so much closer as a team and really got us prepared and excited for our season.
What does it mean to be a part of a winning season in your final year at Nevada?
Being a part of a winning season in my senior year here at Nevada has been one of the greatest rewards. Every year you go out and work hard, but sometimes things just don’t go your way. This year we worked hard, put in that extra work and we have been reaping the benefits. This has been the greatest season of my career and I see nothing but more amazing things coming for my girls that I’m leaving behind.
