ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Lobo softball will hold its 2013 Winter Clinics on Saturday, Jan. 12 and Sunday, Jan. 13 at the Lobo Softball Field. Participants can sign up for one or more of the five sessions that will focus on pitching (two sessions), hitting, infield and outfield defensive skills, and slapping.
New Mexico head coach Erica Beach will lead both pitching clinics while assistant coaches Lyndsey Angus and Christi Musser will instruct the offensive sessions. Angus will also lead the infield segment of the defensive clinic and Musser will lead the outfielders as well as the slapping clinic. Members of the 2012-13 Lobo softball team will also assist with instruction.
Saturday's pitching session, PItching Mechanics, will cover the basics of the pitching motion and how to throw more effectively and get more velocity. Sunday's pitching session, Throwing Pitches, is a more advanced clinic and will focus on the mechanics of throwing different pitches.
Participants for all clinics, with the exception of Sunday's pitching clinic (Throwing Pitches), must be at least 10 years old. The coaching staff requests participants in Sunday's pitching clinic (Throwing Pitches) be at least 13 years old.
Duration of sessions ranges from an hour and a half to two and a half hours, and prices range from $45-$60.
In order to complete their registration, all participants must send a copy of their medical insurance card and a signed camp waiver. Without these documents on file, participants will not be admitted to the clinics.
