SDSU Falls Short at No. 58 Long Beach State, 5-2

San Diego State continued its mid-season slide despite winning the doubles point and ultimately fell at 58th-ranked Long Beach State, 5-2, Friday afternoon at Rhodes Tennis Center. The loss drops SDSU to 2-8 on the year.

For the fourth time in the last five matches, the Aztecs claimed the doubles point, this time winning two of the three matches. San Diego State's top team of Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison were 8-6 winners at No. 1 over Rachel Manasse and Laura Bernard. Emma Cioffi and Laura Antonana Iriarte were also victorious as they defeated Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar at No. 3, 8-3.

In singles, Sierra Ellison was the only Aztec to pick up a decision as she beat Cantlay in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, at the fifth position.

San Diego State returns to action on Sunday, March 4, when it plays host to Loyola Marymount at Aztec Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1 p.m. PT.
