LAS CRUCES, N.M.- The Colorado State women’s tennis team fell to Northern Arizona, 5-2, Saturday, in Las Cruces, N.M.

“I don’t think we were competitive out there from top to bottom,” said head coach Jon Messick. “We gave them all they could handle at 1, 2 and 3 but we didn’t show up at all at 4, 5 and 6. “I think that one bright spot is that Mollie Cooper and Abby Stevens played well again in doubles, that’s their fifth straight win in doubles.”

In doubles, the Rams dropped both the No. 1 and No. 3 matches, giving Northern Arizona the doubles point. In No. 2 doubles the tandem of Stevens and Cooper defeated Nicole Perez and Ghizelene Doballah 8-3.

In singles Rams sophomore Natalie Heffron defeated the Lumberjacks’ Ghizelene Doballah 6-1, 4-6, (10-6), at No. 1. At No. 3, Kendall Heitzner defeated Malia Wahinepio 6-3, 6-4 for the Rams’ final point. At No. 2, Stevens lost a tough back-and-forth match to the Lumerbacks’ Hannah Stone 3-6, 6-2, (10-8). The Lumberjacks then captured points at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 to secure the match.

The Rams will look to get back on track tomorrow when they travel to El Paso, Texas to take on UTEP Sunday, March 3 at 9 a.m.
