Falcons Down Portland, 5-2

The Air Force women's tennis team won its third straight match and improved to 11-3 this season with a 5-2 victory over the University of Portland Saturday at the Lousiana-Pacific Tennis Center. The Falcons won two of three doubles matches and four of the six singles contests.

Air Force won at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to take the point. Senior Tahlia Smoke and junior Melissa Cecil won at the top spot, defating Anastasia Polyakova and Sabine Fuchs, 8-3, while junior Christine Molina and freshman Tiffany Tran downed Katy Krauel and Gabrielle Gorence, 8-4 at No. 3.

In singles play, Molina got things going for the Falcons by rallying to win the No. 2 match, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Fuchs. Smoke (No. 4), junior Hannah Dake (No. 5) and freshman Natasha Rizvi (No. 6) each won in straight sets to seal to victory for Air Force. Cecil came close to winning the No. 1 match but fell to Polyakova, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(5).

The Falcons are back in action on Sunday, March 4 against Portland State beginning at 9 a.m.
