Tennis recap: Colorado State splits back-to-back matches

The Colorado State Rams were defeated 6-1 by UC Irvine Wednesday afternoon at the Anteater Tennis Complex. CSU's sole win of the day was at No. 3 singles as Natalie Heffron defeated her UCI opponent.

UCI (10-5, 3-1) has now won seven of it's last eight matches after its win over CSU. The defeat pushed the Rams back to a record of 3-7, 0-0 MW.

In doubles, the Rams fell behind at the No. 2 position as Emese Kardhordo and Lauren Mulhern dropped their match, 8-3. Soon to follow were Adriana and Veronika Wojakowska in a tough 8-6 loss, ensuring the UC Irvine's first point of the day. The only pair to see success was on the No. 1 court as Tori Arneson and Kaley Schultz defeated their opponents in a close 8-7 (4) match.

In doubles, UCI continued to tally points over the Rams as they defeated Colorado State at the Nos. 5, 1, 6, and 2 positions in straight sets, ensuring UC Irvine's win over the Rams.

Gaining the Rams first and last point of the Day was Heffron at the No. 3 position, where she defeated Kat Facey in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.

The Rams will return to the courts for the final time during spring break play to take on Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, Calif. Sunday.
