Falcons Down Eagles, 6-1

The Air Force women's tennis team won its sixth straight match Saturday, defeating Eastern Washington University 6-1 at Issaquah, Wash. The Falcons, who swept the three doubles matches and won five of the six singles contests, improved to 14-3 while the Eagles fell to 2-9.

The Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead with wins at all three doubles spots. Senior Tahlia Smoke and junior Melissa Cecil improved to 20-8 this season with an 8-5 triumph over Moira Hedberg and Chrissy Uriarte at the top position. Junior Christine Molina and freshman Tiffany Tran won their 18th match of the season with an 8-2 victory over Ryann Warner and Rocio Norena at No. 2, while junior Hannah Dake and freshman Natasha Rizvi won 8-5 over Chelsea Patton and Kelsey Knight at the No. 3 spot.

In singles play, the Falcons won four of their five matches in straight sets, led by Molina, who defeated Patton, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 and Smoke, who beat Knight, 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 4 position.

Air Force opens Mountain West play next Saturday, March 24 against TCU in Albuquerque, N.M.
