Falcons Fall to No. 39 TCU 7-0

The Air Force women's tennis team dropped its 2012 Mountain West opener to 39th-ranked TCU, 7-0, on Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M. The Falcons had their six-match winning streak snapped and fell to 14-4 overall, while the Horned Frogs improved to 8-5 and 1-0 in league play.

Air Force won one doubles match as junior Hannah Dake and freshman Natasha Rizvi defeated Gabi Barbosa and Olivia Smith, 8-5, at the No. 2 position. TCU won the other two doubles matches 8-5.

In singles play, the Horned Frogs won all six contests, five of them in straight sets. Stefanie Tan led things off with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over AFA junior Melissa Cecil at the top spot, while Smith downed freshman Tiffany Tran by the same score at No. 3.

The only three-setter of the day came at the No. 5 spot, where Kelsey Sundaram defeated Dake, 6-1, 6-7, (10-7).

Air Force looks for its first Mountain West win of the season on Sunday, March 25 against New Mexico beginning at 2 p.m.
