The San Diego State women's tennis team defeated Boise State, 5-2, Saturday morning at the United States Air Force Academy. With the win, the Aztecs improve to 8-10 overall and 4-1 in Mountain West action. The Broncos, however, fall to 8-10 and 2-3 in the MW.

SDSU opened the morning by winning the doubles point after the Aztecs captured victories at Nos. 1 and 3. San Diego State's third duo of Emma Cioffi and Laura Antonana Iriarte posted an 8-5 decision over Sonia Klamczynska and Kaitlyn Brown. The Broncos then leveled the score when Sandy Vo and Morgan Basil earned a hard-fought 9-8 win over Julia Wais and Alicia Aguilar.

The deciding match came down to the top of the doubles ladder where Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison picked up an 8-6 victory over Marlena Pietzuch and Manuela Pietzuch. The duo's win gave the Aztecs an early 1-0 lead.

San Diego State took a commanding 3-0 lead after Wais, the MW Co-Player of the Week, and Aguilar recorded straight-sets wins. Wais cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Klamczynska at No. 1, while Aguilar notched a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Basil. Wais has now won eight in a row and Aguilar has been victorious in five straight singles matches.

Boise State, however, answered with a pair of wins at Nos. 2 and 3. Vo, at No. 3, dented the scoreboard first for the Broncos when she downed Antonana Iriarte, 6-3, 7-6. Then Marlena Pietzuch defeated Cioffi at No. 2 in three sets, 7-6, 4-6, 6-0.

SDSU put any thoughts of a BSU comeback to rest when Kristin Buth experienced little trouble with Brown as she logged a 6-1, 6-1 win. Sierra Ellison provided the final margin with her three-set victory (3-6, 6-4, 1-0) over Manuela Pietzuch.

The Aztecs return to action on Sunday at noon MT when they face Air Force.
