COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - The Falcons were able to sneak past the Lobos in close contest 4-3. With the victory, Air Force improved to 13-7 and 2-3 in the Mountain West, while the Lobos fall to 6-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The Falcons were able to gain the doubles point by winning number two and three doubles.

The Lobos were able to make their mark on the doubles action by taking the number one spot in an exciting 8-7 match over seniors Melissa Cecil and Hannah Dake. The Lobos were unable to clinch it as Kristin Eggleston and Katie Wookey fell 8-3 at number three and the duo of Michaela Oldani and Sarah Mahboob Khan fell 8-2 at number two.

Once doubles was over, the singles matches were up next.

Khan was able to start things off after her opponent Natasha Rizvi was forced to retire. The Lobos now tied things off at 1-1.

Air Force's Tran and Dake put the Falcons up 3-1 with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Tran downed Nikolina Grbac, 6-2, 6-2, and Dake defeated Eggleston, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, but the Lobos fought back.

Bezdickova rallied to beat Molina at the top spot, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 and Oldani defeated junior Anastasia Hueffner, 7-6, 6-3 at No. 6 to even the match at 3-all. The match eventually came down to the No. 5 contest, where freshman Mary Meyers clinched the match and a winning season for Air Force with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 victory over Richardson.

"Today was a heartbreaker," Head Coach Erica Perkins Jasper said. "We had a ton of chances and battled to the end. Although we didn't play at our highest level, it was probably the best we have competed in singles all year. Credit to Air Force and their coaching staff on a very hard fought match."

The Lobos will now face conference opponent Colorado State on neutral territory starting tomorrow at 10 a.m. MT.
