The San Diego State women's tennis team finished on the short end of a 5-1 score at No. 51 UNLV Saturday morning. The Mountain West regular-season finale loss dropped the Aztecs to 9-12 overall and 5-2 in league action. The Lady Rebels, meanwhile, improve to 15-8 (5-2 MW).

Doubles action was canceled due to rain so both teams hit the court for singles in an effort to get the match in.

Sierra Ellison was the lone Aztec to post a victory, winning at No. 5. The SDSU senior recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Ella Bourchier. The decision helped snap a two-match losing streak and gave her a 5-2 record in singles against Mountain West competition.

A winner of 10 consecutive matches, Julia Wais had her hands full with No. 58 Lucia Batta at the top of the singles lineup. The junior lost the first set, 6-2, and rebounded in the second with a 6-3 victory, but could not break Batta as the Rebel eventually went on to log the 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win to stop Wais' personal-long winning streak.

Similar to Wais, Kristin Buth had a lengthy winning streak halted at No. 6. The freshman went toe-to-toe with Anett Ferenczi-Bako, but ultimately had her four-match streak stopped when Bako earned a 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 victory.

UNLV ended up recording straight-sets wins at Nos. 2-4 to provide the rest of the scoring.

San Diego State returns to action on Monday when it plays host to San Francisco at Aztec Tennis Center. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. PT start.
