Cowgirl Tennis Sweeps Colorado State, 7-0, On Saturday

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -

The 64th ranked Wyoming Tennis team (12-8 overall, 4-2 MW) had a solid day with a 7-0 win over the Colorado State Rams on Saturday in Ft. Collins.

Wyoming jumped out early as they took all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day. The 54th ranked team of Simona Synkova and Veronica Popovici defeated Tori Arneson and Kaley Schultz, 8-3. That was followed by Silviya Zhelyazkova and Jessica Parizher earning an 8-4 victory against Adriana Wojakowska and Veronika Wojakowska. The final team in action was Alexandra Kovacs and Sasa Nemcova winning 8-7 (5) over Emese Kardhordo and Lauren Mulhern.

The Cowgirls carried that momentum over into singles action with wins at all positions. Popovici earned the second point of the day with a win over Arneson, 6-0, 6-1. Kovacs followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Schultz, while Nemcova notched the Wyoming win by defeating Mulhern, 6-2, 6-2. Synkova needed three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8, against Heffron. Wyoming wrapped it up with Parizher beating Veronika Wojakowska, 6-2, 6-4, and Zhelyazkova with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory against Kardhordo.

The Cowgirls will play one final conference match next week on the road. They will face the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Saturday, April 21. The match is set for 2:00 p.m.
