The San Diego State women's tennis team defeated San Francisco, 6-1, Monday afternoon at Aztec Tennis Center. The win propels SDSU's record to 10-12 on the season, while the Dons tumble to 3-12.

The Aztecs experienced zero problems in doubles as they won all three matches in convincing fashion. Julia Wais and Alicia Aguilar were the first team to step off the court after they blanked Yurie Hashiguchi and Milica Hadzi Tanovic, 8-0, at No. 2. The clinching decision came at No. 3 where Emma Cioffi and Laura Antonana Iriarte dismissed Melinda Akerbrant and Alana McMahon, 8-2. San Diego State completed the sweep soon thereafter when Sierra Ellison and Roxanne Ellison were 8-0 winners over USF's top duo of Julia Wartenburger and Blair Reed.

In singles, SDSU worked quickly to get to the necessary four points to record its 10th win of 2012. Aguilar breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Hashiguchi at No. 4 and was followed in succession by Cioffi, who downed Marina Nikolic, 6-1, 7-6, at No. 2. The decisive match occurred at No. 6 where Roxanne Ellison beat McMahon, 7-5, 6-2.

The Aztecs moved ahead, 5-0, after Antonana Iriarte earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 decision in her match with Akerbrant at No. 3. Then Wais rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Wartenburger, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 to provide the home side with its sixth point of the afternoon. With the win, Wais is 11-1 in her last 12 singles matches.

The Dons notched their only point when Hadzi Tanovic upended Sierra Ellison in three sets at No. 5, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

The Aztecs return to action on Saturday when they play host to Cal State Northridge at 9 a.m. PT. The contest will be the final regular-season home match for SDSU.
