BOISE, Idaho --- In the final regular season match of the year, the No. 55 Fresno State women's tennis team dominated New Mexico 6-1 Sunday morning in Boise, Idaho.

With the win, the 'Dogs moved to 6-2 on the year in the Mountain West and into a tie for second place with UNLV. Since the Rebels won last weekend's match, Fresno State will claim the three-seed in this week's Mountain West Championship and will face the six-seed on Friday. The time is still TBD.

"We finished 14-7 this year and I am very proud of the girls," said first-year head coach Ryan Stotland. "Our seven losses were to very good ranked teams. We ended the regular season on a high. We've had a great, great year so far and we don't want it to stop."

In today's matchup versus the Lobos , the 'Dogs took control from the start by winning all three doubles matches with identical 8-2 scores. Rana Sherif Ahmed and Melissa McQueen paired up at the top spot to beat Michaela Bezdickova and Luara Richardson, the duo of Sophie Watts and Bianca Modoc got back on track and recorded their eighth win of the year at No 2, and Olga Kirpicheva and Aishwarya Agrawal topped Kristin Eggleston and Nikolina Grbac on court three.

"We are looking forward to the conference championships," Stotland said, "And showing everyone what we've got. Our goal is to prove to everyone how good we are and show them how we are starting to peak now and we don't want our season to end."

The Bulldogs kept the ball rolling in singles as they won on five of the six courts. Sophie Watts continued her winning ways, this time at No. 2 which was the first time in her career, as she rolled 6-0, 6-2. Senior McQueen moved her name up the ladder in the Fresno State record books to 12th all-time as she recorded her 71st career victory 6-2, 6-2.

Kirpicheva returned to the singles lineup after not playing in the last match and she continued the 'Dogs dominance on court five 6-3, 6-4. Anneka Watts also picked up a win as she cruised 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6. Modoc picked up the final point for the 'Dogs in a third set tiebreaker 6-3, 3-6, 10-5. Bezdickova got the Lobos on the board with her own three set victory over Ahmed 6-0, 3-6, 10-7.

The 'Dogs now travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. in hopes of continuing the season and bringing hardware back to Fresno.

"Winning a conference championship has been our goal since day one and I know our girls are ready to do it."
