The top-seeded San Diego State women's tennis team earned its first win the Mountain West Championships on Friday, defeating No. 9 Colorado State, 4-0. The Aztecs took the doubles point to lead early and quickly finished off the Rams by notching the three necessary points in singles play to claim the match. SDSU now owns a 21-4 overall record and the 39th spot in the ITA rankings.

San Diego State opened play at the league championships with doubles play against Colorado State. On court No. 3, Alicia Aguilar and Isabelle Hoorn topped Mollie Cooper and Abby Stevens, 8-4. Julia Wais and Kristin Buth put the Aztecs on the board after clinching the doubles point by downing Natalie Heffron and Adriana Wojakowska, 8-5, in second doubles. With the point in hand, play on court No. 1 was left unfinished.

In singles action, Kristin Buth would post the second point for SDSU after dismissing Wojakowska on court No. 4. Recent all-Mountain West singles honoree, Aguilar, kept the momentum going for the Aztecs' with a victory in the second slot over Heffron, 6-4, 6-2. Fellow senior and all-conference singles team member, Wais, sealed the 21st win for San Diego State as she defeated Stevens on court No. 1, 6-1, 7-5.

With the victory, SDSU moves onto the semifinals slated for tomorrow, April 27 at 10 am MT. The Aztecs will face fourth-seeded Nevada in the morning match. Earlier this season, San Diego State defeated the Wolf Pack, 4-3, to maintain its undefeated conference record. The winner of tomorrow's semifinal will go on to compete in the championship final at 10 am MT on Sunday, April 28.
