Nevada Victorious in Quarterfinals

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The University of Nevada women's tennis team topped Boise State in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championships on Friday by a score of 4-2.
The No. 4 seed Wolf Pack (12-6) was victorious over the Broncos (13-10) in consecutive matches, including the season finale last Sunday. Nevada snatched four victories, all four in singles to clinch the quarterfinal matchup. Head coach Guillaume Tonelli said he is looking forward to the semifinal matchup despite facing top-seeded San Diego State.
"I think that we are playing just as well as any team in the conference right now," he said. "This tournament is all about momentum, and it's on our side. We feel like we can go toe-to-toe with the Aztecs."
Senior Sophie Stevens kickstarted the singles wins, as she rolled past Morgan Basil in position three 6-1, 6-3. Juliette Legendre was victorious in position five, as she picked up the win over Sammie Watson in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Emma Verberne notched a win from position two, pushing past Sandy Vo by a score of 6-4, 6-4. Michelle Okhremchuk pulled out the three-set victory at position one, getting past marlena Pietzuch 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The No. 4 seed Wolf Pack faces the No. 1 seed Aztecs on Saturday at 10 a.m. MT.
