Lobos Complete Final Day at NMSU Fall Invitational
Sept. 16, 2012
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – As the final day of the NMSU Fall Invitational draws to a close, the Lobos can come back home with more experience and the knowledge that they will be better prepared for their opponents when the spring season comes around.
The results from yesterday’s and today’s consolation draw were not meant for a distinct winner, but rather for the players to gain more experience and to obtain better knowledge of their future opponents.
The results from Saturday’s and Sunday’s consolation matches are as follows:
Maria Sablina finished 1-1 in singles and 1-0 in doubles.
Nikolina Grbac finished 2-0 in singles.
Kristin Eggleston finished 0-2 in singles.
“I think we learned a lot this weekend about what it going to take to compete at a high level day in and day out,” Head Coach Erica Perkins Jasper said. “We had a number of outstanding individual efforts especially Laura Richardson, who stepped up and had an outstanding tournament going 4-1 in singles on the weekend. We are looking forward to getting back to Albuquerque and putting the work in.”
On another note, Michaela Bezdickova fell in the qualifying round of the Coleman Vision Tennis Championships to #535 in the world Caitlin Whoriskey 6-0, 6-2.
