Tennis recap: Colorado State concludes successful run at Jack Taylor Classic

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women's tennis team concluded the Jack Taylor Classic in Boise, Idaho Sunday afternoon.

"Overall I was pleased with the team," said Head Coach Jon Messick. "We did what we wanted to do playing every point."

In the Blue flight, freshman Abby Stevens won the championship in the second round loss consolation draw.

In the Orange flight, sophomore Adriana Wojakowska won the championship in the first round loss consolation draw with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

"That was the highlight of the day," said Messick. "Her play has improved over the last year.

Meanwhile, freshman Jennifer Weissmann lost in the championship match, 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, the duo of junior Kaley Schultz and freshman Kendall Heitzner won the championship in the first round loss consolation draw.

"We had a long weekend, but we are ready for next weekend," said Messick. "We just need to rest up a little bit."

Next up for the Rams is the Air Force Invitational next weekend. Play begins on Friday, Oct. 5.
