Wyoming Tennis Continues Competition At Air Force Invitational

Doubles action was completed and five Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team members continued play in singles at the Air Force Invitational, on Saturday, in Colorado Springs.
Three teams wrapped up doubles play on Saturday Christa Gecheva and Alma Espinosa. They opened up their day with an 8-1 win over Maddie Buxton and Lauren Pick of CSU before falling to Natalie Heffron and Abby Stevens (CSU), 8-4, in the back draw finals. The team of Sasa Nemcova and Alexandra Kovacs also won their first match of the day over Brooke Hughes and Nicole Long of Oregon, 8-5. They lost to Luidmila Vasilieva and Ksenia Googe of Washington State, 8-2. The final pair in action Silviya Zhelyazkova and Jessica Parizher also split their matches. After falling to Caroline Starck and Sandra Dynka of Texas Tech, 9-7, they came back with an 8-6 win over Daphne Friedrichs and Klara Supejova of Eastern Michigan.
In singles play, sophomore Alma Espinosa battled her way into the finals of her draw. She defeated Ankita Bhatia of Eastern Michigan in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 12-10. She will face Charlotte Koning of Washington State. Sasa Nemcova lost in her only match of the day, 6-4, 6-3, against Klara Supejova of Eastern Michigan. At the time of this release, three other Cowgirls Silviya Zhelyazkova, Christa Gecheva and Jessica Parizher were all still on the court competing. Results will be available on Sunday.
